About us

Deer Run Pickleball Club is a privately owned court owned by Doug Weiss and Amy Kilpatrick. It is set in a picturesque setting that overlooks their pond and is surrounded with trees. This beautiful court is maintained and kept in pristine condition.

While we have opened it up for lessons, its main use is for family and friends. 

Doug Weiss 

Doug is a dedicated player and competes in tournaments on a regular basis. He earned an invitation to Nationals in 2023 and is heading back again in 2024. Doug competes at 4.0 skill level in both Men's Doubles and Mixed Doubles. 

Doug was recognized as 2022 Men's Doubles 3.5 55+ Player of the Year by Southern Pickleball

Amy Kilpatrick

Hi, I am Amy D. Kilpatrick. When I first discovered pickleball it was something we would play on family vacation with Doug and the boys. Then in 2021, while recovering from a health concern, pickleball became so much more. It gave me goals to work towards, a community that I have grown to love, and an outlet for my competitive soul. In 2022, I launched my own pickleball apparel and accessories line, Dizzy Pickle, that features my designs. 

In 2022, I began to play competitively and can be found most weekends in tournaments around the Southeast. While preparing for tournaments and striving towards my own goals to play at a higher level, I discovered that I loved helping others too. So in 2024, I became an IPTPA Certified Pickleball Instructor and launched Level Up Pickleball with Amy Kilpatrick.  Click HERE to learn how my corporate training background influences my pickleball coaching style.

I coach the Episcopal Day School, Augusta, Ga. – Pickleball Middle School Co-ed team. In our 2023-2024 season, the team earned second place for the region.

Also in 2024, I stepped into the role of Local League Coordinator for the Paddle War, The National Pickleball League, where I will be coordinating competitive pickleball leagues to compete on the local, state, regional, and national levels. The areas I am responsible for are Georgia (Columbia Co., McDuffie Co., and Richmond Co.) and South Carolina (Greenville Co., Spartanburg Co., McCormick Co., Edgefield Co., and Aiken Co.)
